As some of you may know, Ireland experienced a severe storm about three weeks ago. Winds up to 200km an hour and much damage done nationwide, with some poor souls STILL not back on the grid.
I myself experienced GRID DOWN with phone and internet also gone, without even the ability to dial emergency services. My stair lift would not work because of the power cut and I literally stayed in bed, eating cold food and praying.
Worse things happen at sea, as my Mother used to say. Being a victim does not sit well with me, but I am affected ongoingly and wanted to share this far and wide.
I have home insurance but an AXA representative told me on a call yesterday that my multiple appliance damage after reconnection to electricity would only be covered if the storm included LIGHTENING!! Twilight zone stuff. BUT not so curious when you look at the fires in Los Angeles, in La Haina in Hawaii, the floods in North Carolina etc…
I try to stay in my lane with my team which is helping to create a SAFER WORLD FOR CHILDREN by primarily exposing organised paedophile rings including SATANIC RITUAL ABUSE, and child trafficking…
But POVERTY especially of food, warmth and shelter PUTS CHILDREN AT RISK OF EXACTLY THAT!! Just imagine a single parent with children finding she is spending 100 euros every 4 days on electricity alone ….the stress has to be enormous, she and her children could end up homeless with rent arrears, food poverty could become an issue and the children could end up TRAFFICKED INTO STATE CARE!!

Since the conversation recorded with the insurance company yesterday, I got an e mail saying I WAS covered after all, and my deductible would be 350 euro not 750, but WE SHALL SEE!
Meanwhile people all over my neighbourhood are reporting their utility bills are doubling overnight since we went GRID DOWN and then came back up. As our Taioseach Michael Martin glibly announced 2 weeks ago that the COST OF LIVING CRISIS in Ireland was OVER and there was no further need of government support!!
I tried to switch from PRE PAY POWER meter electric about a year ago to bill pay through the national ESB by DIRECT DEBIT payments. I was shocked when the telesales person told me that the national ESB actually OWNS PrePayPower!! I also have been strongly advised NOT to engage in DIRECT DEBIT payments for utilities as they can DOUBLE instantly without any consent or information!! If you can at all, insist on on only STANDING ORDERS!
